A bull moose estimated to be 1,000 pounds and three to four years of age was recently seen wandering down a road near Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The moose was seen near Ski Santa Fe, a ski resort in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Santa Fe County, New Mexico.

Ryan Darr with New Mexico Game and Fish reported that about 12 moose have been seen in the State over the last 10 years. According to Darr, this is believed to be the southernmost sighting of a moose in New Mexico.

The moose is believed to have travelled all the way down from Colorado, where moose were introduced in the 1970s.

Ski Santa Fe is about 100 miles from the Colorado border.

Skier Teresa Ronan took a video of the moose, which can be seen below:

As moose can be unpredictable, they should not be approached and should be given plenty of room when spotted in the wild.
