Oregon Man Charged With Killing 3 Deer Out of Season
The Oregon State Police Wildlife Division has charged a man with illegally killing three young blacktail deer bucks .
The deer were found by a citizen along a road on the North Spit of Coos Bay, Oregon in May 2021.
Hunting season was not open at the time, and the deer had been shot at close range in the head. The deer were not taken for processing by the shooter but were left to decompose.
After an investigation spanning greater than one year, Macen M. West of of North Bend, Oregon, was arrested and charged on December 5, 2022 with three counts of taking a game mammal during closed season, waste of a game mammal, and hunting with the aid of artificial light.
The rifle that was allegedly used to shoot the deer was also found and is in police possession.
